Custom Functional Surfaces and PVD Technologies
From Technical Concept to Real-World Production
Do you need your parts to last longer, perform better, or look better?
We help companies solve problems with wear, friction, corrosion, and appearance using PVD coatings and surface engineering. From coating development and testing to coating production and the implementation of your own PVD technology.
Are you looking for an alternative to gold plating, silver plating, or electroplated chromium? Rising gold and silver prices, together with increasingly strict European regulation of chromium-based processes, are creating higher costs and technological challenges for manufacturers.
In many applications, PVD coatings can offer an attractive alternative from both a technical and economic point of view. We can create decorative gold, silver, chrome-like, black, or rose-gold finishes without the need to use precious metals and develop a solution based on the required appearance, durability, and cost. We can help you verify whether your current gold plating, silver plating, or chromium plating process can be effectively replaced with PVD technology.
Helping Companies Get the Most from PVD
Investing in a PVD system is a long-term decision, and its success depends largely on choosing the right technology, power, configuration, and level of technical support. A poorly selected system may be unnecessarily oversized, expensive to operate, or simply unsuitable for your specific production needs.
AdvaMat helps you make an informed decision. We test coatings on your actual parts, prepare a cost-benefit analysis, recommend a suitable technology, and support you with installation, process fine-tuning, and financing options.
The goal is a reliable PVD process that improves production efficiency and delivers a solution that makes long-term economic sense.
PVD System Selection and Integration
Looking for a PVD system that fits both your production needs and your budget? We help you choose a system that matches your required performance, production requirements, and planned investment.

From PVD fundamentals to advanced, tailored HiPIMS workshops. We adapt the training to your equipment, production, and specific needs. The goal is to help your team better understand the PVD process, troubleshoot problems, and optimize the process independently.

Do you need to improve the performance, durability, or appearance of a surface? We develop PVD coatings and surface treatments tailored to your specific application — from improving wear resistance and extending tool life to achieving the required functional or decorative properties.

Looking for a durable and cost-effective alternative to gold or silver plating? At our coating facility in Jeneč near Prague, we provide decorative PVD coatings for small production batches and one-off parts.
AdvaMat Club: Technical Support When You Need It
When a problem arises in your PVD process, you do not have to solve it alone. AdvaMat Club gives you long-term access to our experts, testing facilities, and practical know-how in PVD and HiPIMS technologies. We help you stabilize the process, optimize coating recipes, evaluate coating quality, and solve operational issues — remotely or directly at your equipment.
We Are AdvaMat
AdvaMat s.r.o. is a technology company specializing in PVD coatings and connecting science with industry. In 2009, a research Advanced Materials group was established at the Czech Technical University in Prague under the leadership of Professor Tomáš Polcar. Five years later, it developed into AdvaMat s.r.o. We help companies improve production efficiency, extend tool life, and make their processes more sustainable.
Our Clients
Our clients include world-renowned glassmakers, Czech plastics manufacturers, and defense companies. See how we developed an innovative solution for Sans Souci, or how we helped Sellier & Bellot reduce production costs.

We Understand Coatings
DLC coatings: Imagine a material that is hard like diamond, but at the same time has a surface where everything slides like on graphite. This is exactly what DLC (diamond-like carbon) coatings offer. They combine the extreme hardness and durability of a diamond-like structure with the low friction and self-lubricating properties of graphite.
DLC is not just one single coating – it is a whole group of nanolayers that differ in composition and properties. Some are made purely of carbon, others are created from a combination of carbon and acetylene, and some are additionally doped with metals to better withstand specific types of loads or environments.
ChromIQ: European REACH legislation has banned electroplated chromium because of its carcinogenic effects. We therefore developed a metallic coating that fully replaces hexavalent chromium.
MoSC coatings: MoSC is a special type of coating that combines the properties of DLC coatings with the ultra-low friction of MoS₂ compounds. MoSC coatings are often used in applications where long-term performance is required, for example in the aerospace, automotive, and engineering industries.

Prof. Ing. Tomáš Polcar, Ph.D
“We build a bridge between science as we know it from academia and industry. Our mission is not only to deliver significant savings to manufacturing companies, but also to optimize their production processes through unique solutions based on the latest scientific knowledge. We offer coatings that set new standards in durability, performance, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance, while minimizing environmental impact.”

Ing. Martin Daněk, Ph.D
“We help European companies remain competitive at a time of increasing pressure for sustainability. European businesses face a double challenge – competing with low-cost production from Asia while also meeting strict environmental standards such as the Green Deal and the Clean Industrial Deal. With our advanced technologies and expert support, we help reduce production costs, increase efficiency, and introduce cleaner, more sustainable processes without compromising on quality or performance.”

Ing. Matěj Buřil
“We like combining design and functionality. We enjoy developing surfaces that not only look great, but also truly perform. We specialize in glossy, elegant, and durable coatings that protect products while giving them a premium appearance. For example, we develop anti-fingerprint surfaces that reduce visible fingerprints and help keep materials clean and attractive even in everyday use. We believe that technical excellence can go hand in hand with aesthetics – and that it is simply more enjoyable to be surrounded by beautiful things.”
